# Completing a task

> Open a task, read its guidance, take the suggested action, and move it to Completed. Plus generating missing policies in bulk.

<Note>
  **Quick summary**

  * Every task comes with guidance and, usually, a suggested action to get the work done.
  * On a document task, **Generate Document** drafts one with AI from Assuric's template in one click, and **Add Document** links one you already have.
  * Most tasks complete on their own once the document behind them is approved, and a record task is marked done directly.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the task and read the guidance">
    Every task starts the same way: click it on the **Tasks** page, or on a framework's **Tasks** tab, and its sheet opens alongside the list. The panel at the top explains what the task is, and some guidance ends with *Next steps*.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Take the suggested action">
    *Suggested Actions*, below the task's details, gives you the quickest way to get it done:

    | Task | Suggested action |
    | - | - |
    | *Document* tasks, such as policies | **Generate Document** drafts one with AI from Assuric's template in one click, and **Add Document** links one you already have. |
    | Tasks done elsewhere in Assuric, such as appointing people to key roles or staff training | **Go to Page** takes you there, with a line saying what to do, such as *Visit the Officers section to track your officers in Assuric*. |
    | *Setup* tasks and custom tasks | No suggested action: the guidance tells you what to do. |

    Review anything **Generate Document** produces: it's a first draft, not a finished policy.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Attach your evidence">
    Attach any other evidence the task needs, beyond a generated document, under *Associated Documents* or *Associated Evidence* on the same sheet.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Mark it complete">
    Most tasks complete on their own once you approve the document behind them. A record task has no document to approve, so you mark it done directly from its *Status* (see [task statuses](/tasks/categories-and-states)).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Generate missing policies in bulk

The *Policies* category header shows **Generate**, with a count of the policy tasks that have no document yet. Click it to open a dialog with all of those tasks pre-selected, deselect any you don't want yet, then generate the rest in one pass.
